Car Audio Question (Question about upgrading speaker system)?
I have a '99 Civic CX hatchback. I want to put in new speakers in the rear panels, and a subwoofer in the trunk. I have the crappy oem speakers in the front.
What is the impedance and wattage on the factory front speakers? Would it be worth it to hook the front, rear, and subs all to an amp, or would I be better off just hooking the subwoofer to the amp?
ok first ur new rear speakers will over power ur stock front speakers. if u amp ur stock speakers they will probly blow. if i were u id buy a 4 channel amp and hook it up without the front stock speakers. then when u get the chance buy new front speakers and then hook em to the amp.
i wouldnt try to amp a stock speaker because the average stock speaker only takes 10-16 watts of power whereas ur new rear speakers could take 40-100watts power. an if u amp em then ull blow the front speakers pretty quick.
sub if u have a sub it will overpower ur speakers, this is where a amp comes in. an amp will allow ur speakers to keep up with the bass, that way u hear music and bass working together.
