WHY can I cycle for an hour non stop, but I can not run for a minute until i get exhausted?

I can cycle for 45-60mins, at a steady, but fast rate, non-stop. But i just went for a mile run, and i couldnt do it, I got exhausted at around 1minute, and Had to walk the rest of the way. Why is this? How do I improve my stamina? especially when it comes to running?

I have the same issues .. But think about it .. on a bike you are not Constantly "working". The bike does a lot for you .. You are sitting on the seat most of the time and this means less weight on your legs. Being on the bike your arms are mostly still, they are running around and flailing your upper body has to hold them up ..
