Does any brand pc monitor stand the test of time better than any other?

I've been through three LCD HD's in three years. The first was an Ilo. THe second was a Walmart brand...Vizio I think. The third, which croaked yesterday is a 21 inch Gateway that I paid over $500 for. I have replacement coverage and when the Gateway goes back I get to choose a different brand if I'd like. I don't know which to choose. I'd really mike one that will last more than 13 months this time???

Sorry you're having such crappy luck with yours too. I've been through three as well, in two years. I am at this very minute stuck using the old 19" Dell "trinitron" monster I bought at a computer show ten years ago. MY Gateway is currently in the shop after 14 months of use and I had nothing but grief with it from day one trying to get Vista to get along with it.
Be sure you always leave an animated screen saver on your monitor. That's what they tell you but I do it and it didn't help me. Research your product. When you find one you like google the model number and see how many horror stories you find online about that specific brand. Thus far I'm thinking I'm going to go Samsung...not the one sold as a monitor..the one sold in the television department. The warranties are usually much more thorough, their functionality far better and they offer a wider array of functions. Just be sure it has HDMI and DVI-D connections.
I hope the next one works out better for you. It sucks, I know. Looking at this dinosaur on my desk sucks and it will shock me if the weight of it doesn't cave my desk in until I get my monitor back.
