Why do I watch Discovery Channel's show American Chopper when I hate motorcycles?

I do not even like Harley Davidson's. They are loud and I mean they used to be cool when the real core guys rode them but now there is that show called American Chopper and they are not so cool. Why do we watch shows about things that we would otherwise never care about? I should make a show about basket weaving. Would people watch that show?

its kinda like Modern Marvels or something, you'll be glued to the tv for an hour watching a show about the history of the pencil or something ridiculous. But How It's Made ... who cares about how they make a toothbrush? No one, but you'll watch it.
